Our Kindergarten Graduate

The Twist has officially graduated from kindergarten. Which means he will be in first grade next year. Which means he'll be away from me for 6 hours a day. Which means I'm already working up to my nervous breakdown. It's almost worth it, though, because he looks so stinking cute in his graduation picture.
He led the pledge at the beginning of his graduation program, but we didn't know he was doing that so we weren't close enough to get a good picture. Then he spent the rest of the program rolling his eyes and muttering to himself like he couldn't believe we'd actually make him stand there and sing. Sometimes I think he's a 13 year old in a 6 year old's body. My sister was convinced that all the muttering was him casting a spell on us for subjecting him to such torture. She's probably right. At least he looked cute while he was cursing us.
Tukk made it about 3 minutes, then announced, "I'm done with this." Luckily Yaya was there to keep him entertained.
And then afterward we celebrated with his favorite Mexican food and horchatas. We also let him talk us into stopping to grab him some sticky rice and peanut sauce from the Thai restaurant up the street on our way home. It's possible that boy has us wrapped around his finger.
Cole took him in for his district testing last week, and Caulder called me after to tell me he "aced" it. They told us he's reading on a level I. Honestly, I don't really know what that means, but they seemed impressed, and since it takes practically nothing for me to be ridiculously proud of my boys, I figured I'd brag about it. He's a smarty. Cole says he has his dad to thank for that. I'm not sure I agree with that entirely, but I am pretty proud of our Caulder James. I just wish he'd stop growing up so fast.

The (Barf-Free) March!

Our March for Babies was last Saturday, and it went really well. I didn't even barf when I had to give my speech. Hooray! Here's a pic of his royal majesty the ambassador. Clearly, Jess's capes and masks were amazing.

My nephews were shakin' it during the hokey pokey.
My grandparents drove all the way from Torrey for the big event. And my 85 year old grandpa dressed up right along with the rest of us. Have I mentioned that I come from a flippin' sweet gene pool?
Here we are during the speech. Yes, I somehow let my family convince me to wear my costume while I spoke. Most of them started crying. I'd like to think it was because of my heart-rending public speaking skills, but I'm pretty sure it was because the realization that they were related to a grown woman who would wear a superhero cape and mask while speaking in front of a huge crowd of people was just too much for them to bear. Bless their hearts.
Jess brought the girls and Klive down for the big event. Grandma Sara hogged them the whole time. You can hardly blame her. They're awesome.
We march because every baby deserves a chance to be born healthy... and then get eaten. Because he's too perfectly delicious to resist.
This was Tukk's favorite part. He thought the cow was hilarious.

My super nephews, showing off their super posing skills.
More super Team Tukk awesomeness.
This picture is proof of how amazing our family and friends are. This isn't even everyone who showed up to walk with Team Tukk. I'm pretty sure we had the biggest team there. I'm sure most of them showed up to place bets on whether or not I'd blow chunks, but we still appreciated it so much. Love these guys. We have the best family and friends on the planet.
Our post-walk victory slide.
Super Grandma Sara. I have the cutest grandmas ever.

Thank you for putting up with us bugging you for donations every year. We made over $1,000 dollars this year, so we almost doubled our goal! Woot woot! And thanks for loving our Super Tukker so much. You guys are the best.

Happy Mother's Day!

For Mother's Day Caulder's kindergarten class recorded their favorite recipes.

This was his:

  • Get 4 cups of pumpkin
  • Put it in a mixing bowl
  • Put in a little bit of sugar - maybe
  • Let's say 1 cup of flour
  • Maybe 1 or 2 eggs - you can decide
  • Maybe mix it up. We can do that
  • Put it on a cookie sheet because they are cookies
  • Maybe put it in the oven
  • Cook it for maybe 5 minutes
  • Maybe it's done, I think
  • My mom will probably put chocolate chips in... she knows that
He also asked me if girls really look like this, because he saw a girl do this on TV:

Holy crap. I love this kid. I'm so happy to have two crazy boys who call me mom. Happy Mother's Day everyone!

She's Crafty

I saw this little car caddy on Pinterest and knew my boys would love it, so I decided to make my own version.

This one was cute and all, but I thought of a few special touches that would make it even better, and I figured it would be a great thing to keep in the church bag to keep my boys entertained.

After a little hard work I came up with the perfect design. I don't mean to brag, but it turned out pretty amazing, so I thought I'd share it with you in case you want to make one, too.

Here are the instructions:

1. Dig two dirty, crumpled pieces of paper out of your church bag.
2. Tape them together.
3. Draw a crappy road on them.
4. Add a little bit of love to make it extra special.
5. Tell your husband to shut it when he asks if you're embarrassed that someone else might see it.

I'm sorry that reading my blog and hearing about all my sweet skillz probably gives you all an inferiority complex. I can't help it. The talent just seems to explode out of me. I may start my own Etsy shop so I can sell these bad boys to the general public. I really think talent like this should be shared.

I'm sure that now you can see why my sister-in-law offered to make our capes for the March for Babies. Because she knew that whatever I came up with would distract everyone from the mission of saving babies. Because it would be so mind blowingly amazing.

St. Geezy Girls' Trip

We finally resurrected the St. George girls' trip! We used to go every summer, but it's been years since we've been down to see ...
