The Good Life

Kicked back on the couch watching unspeakable on YouTube with a giant cauldron of Halloween candy.

This dude knows how to live.

October 2022

We let Rand have a ditch day and took him mountain biking, soaked up the beautiful fall leaves, enjoyed some gorgeous sunsets, hijacked Cole's new biking glasses, and had very strong feelings about our leftovers.

The Hunt

Tukk and Cole didn't draw anything for the hunt this year, which was a bummer, but Cole snagged a multi-season spike elk tag so they could still go.

They saw a bunch of big bulls, a bunch of cows, and a couple of spikes, but nothing ever close enought to get a shot at.

They got in lots of hiking, though, and we took a trip to the BOG while the leaves were golden. It was beautiful, plus both Rand and Tukk got to hear some bulls bugling in the wild. That is such an amazing experience.

And, of course, I took 10 million pictures of the fall leaves. I love this time of year.

Halloween 2022

I love Halloween. It is the best time of year. The leaves are changing, it's the gateway to the holidays, everything is spooky. IT IS THE BEST.

We had a spooky rice krispy treat night, with spooky 7-layer dip and mummy dogs.

I told them to look scared. Cade nailed it.

Rand went as The Rake. He would crawl around the house in his costume. It was legitimately terrifying.

Caulder and Aliza were Princess Bubblegum and Marceline.

Tukk was Burt Macklin.

I was a walrus. Excuse me... a SEXY walrus.

We carved pumpkins with the Babe's power tools again. This year he tried out a router. It was amazing.

The only bad part was having to take down Pumpkin Inferno Skeleton after. My heart is broken. Until next year you beautiful, pumpkin-headed, flame-chested bringer of happiness. Until next year...

Halloween Is My Love Language

Cole gave me the best surprise of our married life. He'll never be able to top it. It's all downhill from here and I don't even care because I'm so excited about it.

I've been trying to find a Pumpkin Inferno Skeleton since last year. I set alerts on my phone to watch for it online. I signed up for waitlist emails. I followed Home Depot on social media. Nothing was working.
I was very sad.

Then one morning Cole started texting me early before he headed home from work to tell me he had a surprise for me. I was so excited. And then he got home and told me to go look in my car and there was  GIANT box that barely fit in the back and you know what it was? DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT WAS???!!!!

SOMEHOW HE FOUND ME A PUMPKIN INFERNO SKELETON.

HE MADE ALL MY DREAMS COME TRUE!

I was so excited that he even broke his own rule and helped me set it up before October. I just couldn't wait.

Look at those creepy LED eyes. They will melt your soul with spookiness. And pure, unadulterated Halloween joy.

I am now lobbying for Halloween to be recognized as a legitimate love language.

Flag Football

This was Tukk's last year of flag football. It's been so fun watching him play. I wish the league went for a few more years!

Cole and I are old. We FROZE every night after the sun went down. At the last game I had to meet him there, and he had my chair, my blanket, and a propane heater all set up. I sat down and said, "This could only be more perfect if you had hot chocolate, too." AND HE PULLED OUT A THERMOS OF HOT CHOCOLATE.

He's a keeper, folks.

It was a tough season, and they had to forfeit their last game in the championships because they didn't have enough players, but it ended up being a ton of fun because Tukk got put on the team he'd played with last year that has a bunch of his friends, so it was a great way to end the season.

We finally resurrected the St. George girls' trip! We used to go every summer, but it's been years since we've been down to see ...
