In September we took a trip to Torrey to hike Hell's Hole. We were so excited. Even Rylee, who was 7 months pregnant at the time.
First we enjoyed the shooting water pipe of wonder.
My sis is so brave. I was having anxiety for both of us, so she was good. Misty + pregnancy = cray cray. Even when I'm not the one who's knocked up.
It's a pretty steep drop down into the canyon, so Cole rigged up a rope for us to hold on to while we dropped in.
You can see Rylee calmly lowering her baby belly into the canyon while Andrew - also quite calmly - watches out for her. Not pictured: the nutjob hyperventilating behind the camera. I may or may not have offered to piggyback her down myself so she didn't have to climb. I was totally serious.
This is the scenery in the bottom of the canyon. I didn't actually choke out Rander. I'm not sure why it looks like I'm trying to go WWF on him. I was lovingly carrying him, I swear.
We cooked up a little lunch halfway through the hike. Rand stole Caulder's freeze-dried ice cream sandwich. He's a shameless thief.
Grandpa was on little smokie and brat duty.
Rand ate approximately 189 of them himself.
I'm sure The Babe is sharing words of wisdom with my firstborn. Probably things like the best way to jump through lit fireworks and how to zilch properly. (If you don't know what zilching is, be glad. It just means you weren't raised by a slightly deranged, pyromaniac - but every fun - dad.)
Love this pic.
Tukk always has the sweetest climbing moves. He actually managed to stay dry during this feat.
The stache was still part of our lives during this trip. Its memory will live on through these images.
This was the hike back up. I ended up having to pack Rand and climb one-armed because he was too scared, and Cole had already climbed to the top helping Tukk. Luckily it distracted me from panicking over Rylee, so it was a good thing.
We all made it back to the top in one piece and were only slightly hypotheric by the time we drove the side-by-sides back to Grandma Jan's!
